Diploma in Technology Support Professional/Network Technician/Network Technology

Total Hours: 640

Program Length: 32 weeks

Program Description: With the demand for well-trained computer and network specialists increasing every day, this program aims to fulfill this important need. The Information Technology Systems Specialist Program covers computer technology, basic and advanced networking, as well as operating systems technology.

Program Objectives:

The student should be able to repair and upgrade PCs and install and configure Microsoft Operating Systems. The student should also be able to implement and maintain a Windows 2003 network, including workstations, and Internet connections and protocols. When this program is completed, the student will be prepared to take the A+, N+,CCNA exams and the MCP exams.

Prerequisites: Must have grade 12 or equivalent or 19 years of age, Must have good Command of written and spoken English

Career Possibilities: Upon successful completion, the graduate will be prepared to begin a career as a Computer Technician, Network Technician, Network Administrator, Systems Engineer, Systems Specialist as well as many other possibilities.

Evaluation: Students will be evaluated through a series of quizzes, reviews, and practical assignments. RCIT’s passing grade is 60%. The A+, N+, CCNA and MCP Exams are independent evaluations.

Practicum /Field Placement – 80 Hours

Professional Development & Job Search Skills – 35 Hours
