ESL, Academic and Business Communication

The Royal Canadian Institute of Technology ESL, Academic and Business Communication as part of the Business Program is a multilevel and multimodule course. This course promotes an understanding of academic and business English in the workplace Canada and North America.

  • Academic English (AE)
  • Business English (BE)

Students are given a placement test to determine their approximate language skill level and recieve instruction that is appropriate for their language level.

Our Business English module focuses on helping students to be successful in today’s global economy, to be able to understand and talk about key business and economic issues, to communicate effectively in business writing. The program offers a variety of pair and group activities to practice the most common functions and language of business: negotiating, taking part in meetings, telephoning, electronic communication, presentations, marketing and talking about products and services.

  • After the completion of the program students can successfully continue their education at Royal Canadian Institute of Technology career programs or at another college or university.
  • Our students will demonstrate solid knowledge of English when tested.
  • International students will live with Canadian homestay families. This arrangement will immerse the students into an English-speaking environment and culture.
  • Field trips include half-day trips to various sites of interest or recreational activities in the Vancouver area. Students will be required to find answers to questions prepared by ESL instructors on topics related to the trips. This will help them to expand their understanding of Canada, while at the same time improving their English language skills.
  • Royal Canadian Institute Of Technology is accredited with PCTIA. Accreditation means that we maintain high standards and a solid reputation in the educational industry in Canada. Domestic students may be eligible for loans and grants (up to 50%) if they satisfy the requirements of BCSAP. Funding may also be available through Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) to qualified students.
  • The campus has a friendly administration and staff.
