BC student loans

Welcome to StudentAid BC

StudentAid BC helps eligible students with the cost of their post-secondary education through loans, grants, bursaries, scholarships and special programs. It also has programs for borrowers who need help repaying their loans.

What’s New

The StudentAid BC courier address has changed. The new courier address is:

StudentAid BC
Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development
1st fl, 835 Humboldt Street,
Victoria, BC V8V 4W8

The StudentAid BC mailing address has not changed.

For the September 2010 intake for the Nurses Education Bursary (NEB), the following changes will take place:

  • Applicants are no longer required to submit a separate application for the Nurses Education Bursary.
  • Eligibility will be automatically assessed based on financial need as per the applicant’s full-time StudentAid BC loan application.
  • All applications received by StudentAid BC for the September 2010 bursary period will be returned and students will be informed that they will be automatically considered for the bursary when they submit their application for full time student loan funding.
  • Students must now follow the new procedure and apply for a student Loan to be assessed.

There is new and important information on the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) website that will help you learn how to get the most out of your student loan funding, and how to manage your loan while in school and repayment. Some student loan borrowers will soon receive an email or a letter from the NSLSC with an invitation to participate in a new pilot project.

To ensure that you receive your Canada Student Loan funding on time, and to ensure that your needs are understood, you are encouraged to respond. Visit the NSLSC website for more details.

2010/2011 StudentAid BC applications

Pacific Leaders Graduate Fellowship suspension for 2009

The Pacific Leaders graduate fellowship program is a valuable part of the government’s strategy to support the recruitment goals of the BC Public Service by helping attract talented new employees, while also benefiting from their research into areas of interest to the Province.

The spring enrolment of the fellowship has been postponed while constructive feedback from post-secondary partners offering potentials for improvement of the program is examined.

All students currently participating in the fellowship program will continue forward in the program, and will be welcomed into the public service as they complete their research and begin their careers.

Received applications will not be further adjudicated and arrangements will be made to have them returned to dean of graduate studies at your institution.

Please check back for updates on the status of the program.

Please contact AVED.SpecialPrograms6@gov.bc.ca for any questions.

Effective January 1, 2008, an amendment has been made to your B.C. student loan agreement.

The option to repay your B.C. student loan at a fixed prime interest rate, plus not more than 5 percent per year, has been discontinued.

All B.C. student loans will be consolidated at the floating prime interest rate of prime, plus 2.5 percent per year.

Having your B.C. student loans consolidated at the floating prime interest rate, plus 2.5 percent per year, allows the interest applied to your B.C. student loan(s) to be calculated using today’s lower interest rates.

For further information on repaying your B.C. student loan(s), please contact the British Columbia Student Loan Service Bureau at:
